Free love; A counter-culture concept of the 60s and 70s. The idea that people should be free to love each other without commitment; pursue a love that they feel is right.
This Vans campaign logo is fresh and edgy, drawing inspiration from the summer of 69’ – around the time when Vans first emerged.
The visual style has an essence of the free love movement associated with that era, yet is modern and edgy enough to appeal to the street culture of 2015.
The Summer of 2015 logotype was handcrafted from a historical, vintage type specimen. During the creative process, multiple versions of the logotype were developed through the use of tracing paper until arrival at the final digitized version.
